The multi donor “EU4 Energy Transition: Covenant of Mayors in Western Balkans and Türkiye” (hereafter EU4ET) project is jointly co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by German Agency for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ) and Central Project Management Agency (CPMA).
At the heart of the project lies the Covenant of Mayors initiative, where municipalities pledge to contribute to climate protection goals and develop Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs).
Our mission is to deliver on the energy transition, tackle climate change, and enhance climate resilience in the region.
Our work is rooted in the belief that addressing climate change requires both local action and international collaboration. We aim to create a strong foundation for sustainable development by integrating climate protection into the fabric of every community. Through the Covenant of Mayors initiative and the Multi-Level Governance Platform for Climate Action, we connect municipalities with the resources and partnerships necessary to achieve their goals, ensuring a greener, more resilient future for the region.
We envision a Western Balkans and Türkiye where local communities lead the way in climate action, empowered by strong collaboration between all levels of government and supported by innovative solutions. Through the EU4 Energy Transition project, we strive for a future where municipalities not only meet their climate goals but exceed them, creating a resilient, sustainable, and energy-efficient region. Our commitment is to foster a region where climate protection is integrated into every aspect of development, ensuring a prosperous and climate-resilient future for all.
