About Global Covenant of Mayors

A Global Movement with The Global Covenant of Mayors

Joining forces with a shared vision, the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) unites cities worldwide in the fight against climate change. It merges the EU’s Covenant of Mayors and the Compact of Mayors, amplifying the impact of local action on a global scale.

With over 11,500 cities from 6 continents and 142 countries, GCoM is the largest alliance for city climate leadership. Together, these cities envision a future of inclusivity, resilience, and low emissions, aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

GCoM focuses on three pillars: mitigation, adaptation, and access to sustainable energy. Through ambitious climate action plans, cities lead the charge towards a more sustainable and resilient world.
