The 1st Local Steering Committee Meeting, held online via Zoom, marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to advance climate action and energy transition in Türkiye. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the EU, Lithuanian Embassy, Turkish ministries, local government associations, and municipalities, to review the progress made and discuss the roadmap for future collaboration. Moderated by Ms. Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç, the meeting featured opening speeches from Ms. Lidija Kasubiene of CPMA and Ms. Burcuhan Şener of MMU, who highlighted the importance of the project and the strategic role of the Marmara Region in developing Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs). The meeting proceeded with a presentation by Ms. Daiva Matonienė of CPMA, detailing the project's goals and progress, and concluded with a strong commitment from participants to enhance climate resilience and energy transition in Türkiye.
The discussions underscored the importance of multi-level governance and international cooperation in achieving the project's objectives. Ms. Ayşen Erdinçler of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality emphasized the need for revised Climate Action Plans to meet carbon-neutral targets.
