COP28 Climate Session

At COP28, a very important panel was organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change (MoEUCC), Bağcılar Municipality and representatives of the EU4ETTR project, entitled "Enhancing International Cooperation and Platform Development in Climate Action"!

In the panel where the importance of multilevel governance platforms in combating climate change was discussed, MoEUCC's new digital platform where information and progress on the implementation of Türkiye's new climate law and local climate action plans will be shared was introduced and a cooperation model on Multi-Level Governance Platform (MLGP) was presented by EU4ETTR project.The panel also shared success stories and case studies of international cooperation and platform initiatives on climate action. These examples provided practical information on how cooperation can be carried out effectively.

  • Dr. Tuğba Dinçbaş, Deputy Director of MoEUCC Climate Change Presidency presented "Local Climate Action Plans and Türkiye's Evolving Legislation".
  • Ms. Daiva Matoniene, EU4ETTR Project Team Leader presented “Fostering Collaborative Climate Initiatives in Türkiye – Example of Multi Level Governance Platform”.
  • Mr. Pierro Remitti, Director, Global Covenant of Mayors, presented "City-Level Cooperation: A Key Driver of Global Climate Action".
  • Dr. Paolo Bertoldi, EU Joint Research Center presented "Role of the EU Joint Research Center in Advancing Cities’ Climate Resilience.Assessment: Case of Covenant of Mayors in JRC research activities".
  • Mr. Faruk Şit presented Bağcılar Municipality SECAP grant project practical case.

 The event ended with interactive question-answer sessions where the participants contributed to the discussions by communicating directly with the panellists.
