MLGP4Climate Steering and Advisory Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, a significant meeting of the Multi-Level Governance Platform for Climate Actions (MLGP4Climate) Steering and Advisory Committee was held, focusing on energy transition and climate change.  50 participants including Ms. Jūratė Lepardinienė, deputy director of Lithuanian Central Project Management Agency, Ms. Elita Kresse, Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments-Advisor on Foreign Affair issues, Mr.Ertuğrul Şafak, Head for Project and Financing departament of Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, Mrs. Elif Köse,Mayor of Safranbolu municipality, Mr. Şadi Özdemir, Mayor of Nilüfer municipality, Mr. Gökhan Yüksel, Mayor of Kartal municipality, Mr. Ahmet Sarıkurt,Mayor of Çorlu municipality,Hasan Özçelik, President ofPublic Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority, Prof. Ayşen Erdinçler,Head of the Environmental Protection and Control Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Mr.Ertuğrul Selçuk Güldüler, Deputy Mayor of Bagcilar municipality,  valuable representatives from Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of  Türkiye, and more 10 municipalities  valuable representatives attended the meeting. Ms. Svetlana Žilionienė, Head of Strategic Planning and investements of Trakai municipality of Lithuania, and Ms. Inga Vismantienė, Deputy Mayor of Akmenė District Municipality, shared Lithuanian practices and valuable insights to the discussions.

Recognizing the urgent need for coordinated and sustained efforts to address the global climate crisis and acknowledging the critical role of local governments in achieving climate goals,  MLGP Steering and Advisory committee meeting participants  declared commitment to collaborate towards a sustainable future and  during the meeting, the MLGP4Climate Declaration were signed.
