Workshop: Assessment of Risk and Vulnerability of Cities to Different Climate Change Scenarios

On March 30-31, 2022, a significant workshop titled "Assessment of Risk and Vulnerability of Cities to Different Climate Change Scenarios" took place in Istanbul. The event brought together key stakeholders from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Bağcılar Municipality, and other Turkish local governments. The workshop aimed to deepen understanding of climate change, adaptation, mitigation, and resilience, while also addressing the assessment of climate vulnerabilities and the development of climate policies and action plans.

The workshop featured a series of expert-led sessions, including discussions on climate context, SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan) analysis, and adaptation strategies. International and national experts shared insights on risk and vulnerability assessment tools, hazard mapping, and adaptation actions. The second day included a practical exercise focused on applying the knowledge gained to real-world scenarios. The event concluded with recommendations for municipalities and key findings for the SECAP report, marking an important step towards building more resilient cities in Türkiye.
