Call for Advancing understanding, modelling and prediction of extreme events in a changing climate
The project focuses on improving the understanding, modelling and prediction of extreme climate and weather events and their impacts in a changing climate. It will strengthen the ability to predict individual, compound and cascading hazards, supporting better preparedness, early warning systems and climate resilience.

Scope. Call focuses on improving the understanding, modelling and prediction of extreme climate and weather events, including their causes, likelihood and impacts under climate change. It covers single, compound and cascading hazards, using advanced climate models, Earth-system models, digital twins, AI and historical/current climate data. Projects should improve seamless prediction and attribution across different timescales, support early warning and preparedness, and provide evidence for climate risk assessments and adaptation policies, including the future European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA).
Sectors. Climate adaptation, disaster risk management, critical infrastructure, ecosystems and biodiversity.
Eligible applicants. Legal entity (including from Türkiye).
Key requirements. Cross‑value‑chain collaboration, real‑environment pilots, integration of multiple industrial actors, measurable emissions reduction, scalability and contribution to EU 2030/2050 climate targets.
Funding & duration. Funding rate up to 100% under Horizon Europe rules. Project budgets: 8–18 mln. Eur, reflecting multi‑actor, system‑level demonstrators across industrial value chains. Project duration: 36–48 months.
