The research center, which was established in 1953 within the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University, takes its name from its founder, Ernst Reuter. It is the first research centerestablished in Türkiye to produce academic knowledge in the fields of urbanization, environment and local governance policies.
Their focus includes urbanization, urban governance, housing, climate change, and urban resilience. They are dedicated to addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by rapid urbanization through effective urban governance and sustainable housing solutions.
