Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University was designated as a specialized university in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems by the Council of Higher Education in 2016. Founded and directed by Prof. Dr. Mehmet TEKTAŞ, the Intelligent Transportation Systems Application and Research Center (BAUSMER) was established on 15 November 2017 and carries out various training, feasibility, transportation planning, and research activities in the field. The center also offers Master’s and Ph.D. programs to train specialized human resources in Intelligent Transportation Systems field.
- BAUSMER has established itself as a leading center for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in the Marmara and Aegean region and as one of the first members of ITS Türkiye.
- BAUSMER successfully executed several transportation planning focused projects; such as preparing Transportation Master Plans, sustainability analysis, and techno-economic analysis for renewable energy sources for stakeholders such as metropolitan and local municipalities in the region.
- BAUSMER partners with national institutions for developing urban safety initiatives, and also offers specialized graduate programs that have trained over 150 students in ITS research, technologies and applications.
- BAUSMER also hosts or supports international and national conferences, such as the ITSC conferences of Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University and the SUMMITS series of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
- BAUSMER also has an International Scientific Journal that is indexed on Index Copernicus International Master List and TR Dizin, to promote ITS research, technologies and applications, namely the Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Applications (JITSA).
