Melikgazi Municipality joined the ranks of signatory municipalities to the European Union's Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy in 2022, marking a significant step in Turkey's efforts against climate change with the goal of contributing to the 'Net Zero by 2053' target. In line with these efforts, the municipality is undertaking initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2053 through the development of a Sustainable Climate and Energy Action Plan (SECAP). Activities include conducting a Current Situation Risk Analysis and Climate Vulnerability Workshop within the municipality to foster projects that will contribute to the 2053 climate vision.
