  • The Environmentally Friendly Green Buildings Association (ÇEDBİK)

ÇEDBİK, the Turkish Green Building Council, was founded in 2007 with the goal of promoting sustainability in the building industry. Its vision is to create healthier living and working environments by advocating for eco-friendly building practices. ÇEDBİK achieves this through educational programs, pilot projects, and lobbying efforts to raise public awareness about green building principles and encourage the industry to adopt sustainability practices.

As a non-governmental organization, ÇEDBİK boasts over 100 members from various sectors related to construction and real estate. They aim to influence environmental and sustainability initiatives within the Turkish construction industry.

One of ÇEDBİK's key initiatives involves developing an environmental certification system tailored to Turkey's unique geographical, climatic, political, social, and technological context. Additionally, ÇEDBİK has received recognition from the World Green Building Council (WGBC) and actively collaborates with other Green Building Councils globally to stay updated on sustainable construction trends and participate in international policy programs.

ÇEDBİK is also a partner in the BUILD UPON project, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Programme, which focuses on building energy renovation across 14 European countries. They have organized workshops and contributed to discussions on energy efficiency in Turkish buildings, providing valuable input to government policies. Furthermore, they have developed stakeholder maps and a Renowiki initiatives database as part of this project.
