Uzunkopru Municipality is a local authority declared its commitment in climate change and mitigating its results by climate neutrality. The Municipality is an initiator of a lot of projects for green urban resilience, climate change adaptation planning and decreasing of the GHG emissions in the urban areas.
The Municipality is ready to cooperate for exchange of knowledge and development of cooperation projects in the field of climate change adaptation and mitigation, including urban mobility and urban resilience. The municipality of Uzunkopru is working on the building capacity for the SECAP preparation, but there is need to receive more expertise in this area.
Projects Involved:
- Uzunkopru Municipality is an initiator of the project Green Urban Resilience, BSB00006, funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021-2027, aiming mitigating and decreasing of the urban heat islands and capacity building for the heat effect mitigation planning, based on the green and blue urban solutions.
- The other project again initiated by the Municipality of Uzunkopru and funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021-2027 is Step2CleanPlan, BSB00004. In the scope of the project the municipality will increase planning capacity of its staff members and especially of the climate change department’s experts and will lay down the basic for the good urban mobility planning.
- The third project implementing in cooperation with the leading organization GUNEKAB is again funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021-2027 and is called Go2Recycling, BSB00027. The project aims establishing needed infrastructure for the proper waste management in the Black Sea Basin and in its scope a lot of environmentally friendly behavior development events and initiatives will be developed. Additionally mobile separate waste collection center and separate waste collecting vehicle will be delivered for Uzunkopru.
The municipality of Uzunkopru is ready for other similar cooperations and initiatives with European and local institutions and organizations.
