A New Era for Buildings Begins in 2025!

Starting from January 1, all new buildings in Türkiye with a total construction area exceeding 2,000 square meters must comply with the “Nearly Zero Energy Building” (NSEB) standards. Additionally, at least 10% of their energy needs must be met from renewable energy sources!

This regulation aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. With renewable energy systems like solar panels and heat pumps, buildings will become more eco-friendly than ever.

A Step Towards Success!
•    By 2023, 2,200 buildings constructed to NSEB standards saved 281 GWh of energy annually and prevented 66,000 tons of carbon emissions.
•    Starting in 2025, 30,000 new buildings will be constructed to meet NSEB standards each year, aiming for annual savings of 1,850 GWh of energy and reducing carbon emissions by 450,000 tons.

It is crucial for municipalities in Türkiye to align their Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) with this regulation to support sustainable development.
