Copernicus Report: 2024 Set to Be the Hottest Summer on Record!

The summer of 2024 has gone down in history as the hottest on record globally and in Europe! According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), the June-August period was 0.69°C above the 1991-2020 average. Europe, in particular, saw an alarming temperature anomaly of 1.54°C.

Global temperatures:
- August 2024 was 1.51°C above pre-industrial levels.
- In the past 14 months, 13 months have seen temperatures exceed the 1.5°C mark.

Sea surface temperatures:
- Sea surface temperatures also reached record highs.

These extreme temperatures and climate events increase the likelihood of 2024 becoming the hottest year on record. Without urgent action to combat climate change, such extreme events will only intensify.
