PROJECTS:
Solar Power Plant
Thanks to the 1134 kWp solar power plant established on its own land in 2017, Bandırma Municipality started to meet approximately 90% of the energy needs of all municipal facilities from solar energy. While this innovation has provided the municipality with significant savings in energy costs, it has also set an example for other municipalities and private sector companies as a pioneering practice. Since the establishment of the solar power plant, the municipality has produced 11,600,000 kwh hours of energy and prevented 5,128,000 kg of carbon emissions. Bandırma Municipality aims to reach the 2030 and 2050 targets stated in SECAP by making more renewable energy investments.
Increasing Electric Vehicle Inventory
With the 2 Electric City Sweeping Machines added to the Bandırma Municipality Cleaning Works, it carries out faster and faster cleaning activities at certain points of the city, while minimizing carbon emissions.
Cleaning services are controlled with the Electric Automobile used in the Cleaning Services. It is planned to reduce carbon emissions by using an electric mini van, which allows bazaar tradesmen to carry materials to their workplaces more easily and quickly in the city center of Bandırma, and by prohibiting the entry of trucks carrying cargo into the city center.
Electric Charging Stations
In order to encourage the use of electric vehicles, which have an important role in reducing carbon emissions from urban transportation in Bandırma, 35 charging sockets in 15 different locations within the district borders serve electric vehicles in Bandırma. The aim of Bandırma Municipality is to work for the establishment of electric charging stations in every neighborhood and to put these stations into operation.
Forest of Life for a Greener Bandırma
Bandırma Municipality, with the participation of its citizens on certain special days and events, carries out adult sapling planting activities in various parts of the city to reduce carbon emissions. Tree planting activities carried out in accordance with SECAP activities are aimed to increase the awareness of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan, especially with the participation of women and children.
Wastes Turn into Art
Bandırma Municipality aims to both emphasize the importance of recycling and to instill social environmental awareness by exhibiting the works prepared by artists in its Exhibition Halls in order to increase sustainable environmental awareness.
