PROJECTS INVOLVED:
- 15-Minute Cities Project Prepared with the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership: This urban planning project, launched on January 1, 2024, with a 3-year duration, is a joint initiative with the European Union, TÜBİTAK, and Gazi University. Its goal is to create communities where people can access basic needs within 15 minutes on foot or by bicycle. As part of the project, adjustments will be made to promote bicycle use and pedestrian pathways in the pilot area.
- MedCities Mediterranean Cities: Bodrum Municipality has been selected for the MedCities Coastal Cities Working Group and the Greener and Climate-Resilient Cities Working Group. The municipality is actively participating in sustainable urban planning training for coastal areas and conducting related projects.
- Prima Front Ag Nexus: Supported and financed under the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program, Bodrum Municipality is a partner in the FrontAG Nexus Project, which is part of the European PRIMA Program. The project aims to define prototypes and demonstrate concepts for climate-friendly hydroponic, aquaponic, and insect farming systems that minimize the pressures on water, soil, energy, and biodiversity. The greenhouse installation is ongoing within the Parks and Gardens Directorate's greenhouse area in Ortakent.
Bitez Covered Market Roof-Type GES Project: An application for the 100 kWh Roof-Type Solar Energy Systems to be installed at the Bitez Covered Market was submitted in October. If the application is approved, installation work is planned to begin in January.
Craft Cities: Bodrum Municipality is part of the Craft Cities program, which includes 60 cities. This program supports the application of New European Bauhaus concepts in local government plans, programs, and governance. Stakeholder-oriented training will continue until 2026. As part of this, on Global Climate Action Day on September 25, the municipality placed "Climate Banks" in areas identified as being at risk of coastal flooding. This concept was inspired by high benches created in collaboration with Danish TV channel TV2 and architect Bjarke Ingels.
Waste Exchange Event at Umurca Park: Organized by the Bodrum Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Department in collaboration with the Cleaning Works Department, the "Packaging Exchange Event" was held at Umurca Park. Specially organized for European Waste Reduction Week, the event aimed to raise awareness about sustainable living by reducing packaging waste. It was attended by 136 students, teachers, press members, and citizens who brought packaging waste.
