Projects Involved
In 2015 the City of Karlovac joined the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, when the Energy Sustainable Development Action Plan ( SEAP) was upgraded to a new version, in 2020 at the City Council session as the official implementation document the SECAP was accepted, and the city started with the preparation and implementation range of projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources for connecting the use of solar and geothermal energy in the area of the City of Karlovac as one of the strategic goals.
Some of the ongoing projects are:
- Smart City Karlovac by developing and implementing digital solutions for monitoring the occupancy of parking spaces - with the display of the number of free spaces on the external LED panel, control and monitoring of energy consumption (electricity, water, heating) in schools, which monitored by remote reading, as well as monitoring the air quality in school classrooms, meteorological station has also been set up, and Karlovac and their guests can read various meteorological data on the external LED panel, remote monitoring of water meters
- New Led Lighting Esco model- modernizing the entire public lighting with new LED lamps, which have built-in communication modules that send relevant data from each lamp to the control center, enable the reduction of the light intensity of each lamp, and enable 24 hourly monitoring of the operation of the entire system.
- Broadband Internet: The construction of a new generation broadband network has just begun, where this project will cover all settlements and residents in smaller rural areas around the center of the city, which aims to enable the achievement of even economic and social development in the area of the City of Karlovac.
- Interreg Danube program: „Together for Energy – efficient Urban Mobility: Decreasing Carbon Intensity of Urban Transport by supporting Shift to Active Urban Mobility through rethinking street design and changing travel behaviour“ – CITYWALK 2.0.
- Interreg Central Europe 2021.-2027. „Zero energy buildings for Zero energy neighbourhoods „- ZEB4ZEN
- Interreg Euro Med 21-27 „INnovative FInancing solutions for climate planning of REsilient and carbon neutral living“ – INFIRE
- And many Energy fassade renovations of public and cultural buildings of the city of Karlovac.
