Oct 14, 2026The CITY-ACCEL Training Programme continued with LAB 3: Investment Mapping, helping municipalities connect their SECAP priorities with suitable climate financing opportunities! 🚀💶
Building on LAB 1 and LAB 2, LAB 3 focused on exploring financing pathways, matching project concepts with potential donors and identifying funding opportunities, eligibility requirements and financial gaps — supported by CITY-ACCEL’s AI-assisted tools.
🎤Ms. Daiva Matonienė, MLGP4Climate Lead, opened the session, introducing the focus on moving from project concepts towards concrete financing opportunities.
📍Ms. Aušra Albrechtaitė, financial attraction expert and moderator, guided participants through a pulse check and recap of LAB 2, setting the scene for the next stage of the CITY-ACCEL journey.
🏦Ms. Nalân Tepe-Şençayır, EBRD representative, explored how SECAPs and GCAPs can support the development of investment-ready projects, sharing practical tips for strengthening municipal climate finance opportunities.
🤖Mr. Doğukan Aycı, IT SECAP expert, demonstrated the CITY-ACCEL AI-Assisted Finance Matchmaking Tool, showing how municipalities can identify relevant funding opportunities, assess eligibility criteria and potential financing gaps, and quantify the climate impact of mitigation projects.
💶Ms. Daiva Matonienė also led a practical session on “Financing Mix Beyond Grants: Finance Mapping”, exploring different financing instruments, potential donors and key financial indicators such as CAPEX, OPEX, NPV and IRR.
📝 The session concluded with a financing readiness check and a discussion of next steps, helping municipalities identify how to validate their financing pathways, address project gaps and prepare to engage with potential funders.
